Jon Osterholm - Creative from the noggin down

Concepts that are outrageous. Or practical. Not outrageously practical, though, because that's too practical! Jon Osterholm -- me -- does a lot of things, and can help in a lot of ways. It is what I like to do.

Simply, I offer words (writing, editing), images (illustration, photo, marketing) and designs (publications and more). I collaborate with others. Gladly. I have worked in a broad variety of areas, such as print production, news media, retail creative services, and technical writing. Always, I am writing. Nonfiction, fiction, commentary. Email. Ironic names. Bad jokes.

With 15 years of creative and writing experience, I've worked on material for large publishers, music labels, corporations, the world's militaries, small businesses, and various professionals. My passion is to provide creative work for sales, learning, entertainment, and information. I have a terrific capacity to "get it" -- aircraft, simulation systems, automated machinery, and more.

As a media writer, working for newspapers large and small I covered topics ranging from nonprofit fund-raising events, to scandal, murder and manslaughter on the outskirts of the big city (the city in this case being Nashville). Professionally, I write, edit and revise marketing materials, press releases, books. How about speeches? Sure!

Where only dust and wishes were before, I've launched companies. Including a daily newspaper in a top-20 market, I have helped launch three media companies. I have held creative and/or management roles at several publications and freelanced with more. I worked well with dozens of marketing (advertising, PR, etc.) firms, and for a wide variety of clients from national financial companies to local professionals.

Beyond that, I have been involved with acting and theater since my early teens, professional video and broadcasting. I am fairly well-rounded. Some call me hard to define, but that's just too much linear thinking. I am a media creative professional.

Warning: I may offend the humorless, frighten the apathetic, and mystify the disinterested. The process: I fill a sack, then pick out the necessary stuff. And I can work it from the soup to the nuts. Here's a little more on that.
